About the Role
Netflix is the world's leading streaming entertainment service with over 300 million paid memberships. Emerging talent plays a big part in pushing Netflix to keep growing by bringing new ideas. This internship offers an experience that mimics what it is like to actually work at Netflix, embedding qualified interns within groups based on interests and skill sets for the summer.
What you could learn to do
- Build applications that solve complex business problems elegantly
- Create tools that are intuitive, engaging, and surface business insights for partners
- Write high-quality, performant, industry-standard code
- Integrate scalable system design and architectural best practices into the development lifecycle
- Use AI tools to move faster on scoped engineering work, like understanding unfamiliar code, brainstorming approaches, drafting tests, and improving documentation
- Build good judgment about AI: validating its output, spotting when it’s wrong or overconfident, and handling privacy and security responsibly
- Work closely with business stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and Spring/Summer 2028.
- Coursework or relevant experience with data structures, algorithms, and debugging.
- Eagerness to leverage AI to amplify work, explore ideas, move faster, and sharpen thinking, while validating outputs.
- Willingness to explore new solutions and learn by breaking things.
- Ability to make confident, well-thought-out decisions and share ideas/perspectives.
- Ability to work independently and ask teammates for fresh perspectives.
- Ability to do best work alongside others and enjoy building as a team.
- Clear, concise communication skills, tailoring stories to the audience.
- Passion for Netflix’s mission to Entertain the World and thrive in its culture.
Qualifications
- Current, enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Statistics.
- Minored in a technical field, or majoring in something non-technical while teaching yourself to code, are encouraged to apply.
- Bonus points if you’ve completed at least one of these courses: Distributed Systems, Web Development, Mobile Development, Network or Application Security, Machine Learning, or AI.
- Candidates with significant relevant work experience may not be considered. While prior internships are okay, we may not consider candidates with multiple years of relevant work experience.
Internship Details
- Paid internships, a minimum of 12 weeks.
- Choice of fixed start dates in May or June 2027.
- Located in Los Gatos, CA or Los Angeles, CA office, depending on the team.
- Posting remains open through January 1, 2027.
- Roles are filled on a rolling basis.
