About the Role

As a Bahnübergangsposten (BÜP), you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety at the intersections of rail and road traffic within the rail network. Your primary responsibility is to prevent potential dangers to people and goods at level crossings and to ensure the safe passage of both the rails and the level crossings.

Key Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for the safety of level crossings in various situations, including when warning systems fail or during construction work.
• You will monitor traffic at level crossings, ensuring that all road users observe necessary precautions and pass safely.
• You will inform drivers about train traffic, signal approaching trains, and implement traffic control measures when necessary.
• Your top priority is to prevent accidents and dangerous situations by ensuring safe passage for both road and rail traffic.
• Your work requires a high degree of attention and concentration. You must be able to quickly and accurately assess traffic situations to react appropriately and take the necessary measures to secure the level crossing.
• Close cooperation with other safety personnel and responsible railway authorities ensures smooth and safe traffic flow.

Training & Development

• You will receive specialized training and a short-term education to perform the role of a Bahnübergangsposten (BÜP).
• You will acquire the necessary knowledge of safety procedures, signaling, and traffic regulations.
• You will be prepared for your tasks and learn how to fulfill your responsibilities as a BÜP to ensure safety at level crossings.
• A comprehensive 7-day training will provide you with all necessary knowledge and skills to competently and responsibly carry out safety tasks along the tracks.
