About the Role
Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider in a medical office setting. They work closely with physicians, assist with direct patient care, and serve as a liaison between the physician, patient, and office staff. The role promotes communication among all care providers, patients, and office staff regarding the patient's care plan. Medical Assistants attend to patients utilizing age-appropriate principles of growth and development for all ages according to the practice specialty.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Functions:
- Taking patients to rooms
- Obtaining vital signs
- Assisting with medical procedures
- Performing phlebotomy
- Obtaining lab specimens
- Adhering to safety and infection guidelines
- Calculating & administering medications & vaccinations
- Administrative Functions:
- Greeting patients
- Scheduling appointments
- Answering phones
- Clerical & computer work
- Prior authorizations
- Billing and coding
- Maintaining electronic medical records (EMR)
- Faxing
- Disability & Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork
Medical Assistant Trainee Program
Norton Healthcare offers a full-time, 40 hours a week paid training program for individuals with no experience. The program consists of classroom and clinical training.
- Program Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8a-4:30p
- Classroom Training Location: 1001 Breckenridge Ln, Louisville, KY 40207
- Clinical Training Locations: Various locations throughout Louisville and Southern IN.
- Upon successful completion, trainees transition into a full-time Medical Assistant role.

Qualifications
