About the Role
MercyOne is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Tech Trainee to join their team in Dubuque, Iowa. This is a full-time, rotating shift position.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of a pharmacist, assist in providing pharmaceutical care to inpatients and outpatients.
- Assist with educational and employee services to patients, guests, hospital, and medical staff.
- Work with and assist pharmacists and nurses with pharmacy-related issues and physician orders.
- Perform dispensing functions under pharmacist supervision.
- Prepare IV admixtures and other sterile preparations according to departmental policies.
- Make regular deliveries of medications to nursing units.
- Process Unit Based Cabinet Refill Reports and deliver/resupply medications to nursing units.
- Answer and process incoming phone calls to the department.
- Assist with department inventory procedures.
- Process patient medication charges and credits accurately into the pharmacy and/or hospital information system.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Typing
- Clerical skills
- Science background (desirable)
- Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of employment.
- National technician certification as outlined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 1 year of employment.
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
Qualifications
- Must be 17.5 years of age or older.
