Forward Deployed Engineer Intern

About the Role

You’ll split your time between our codebase and the street. One day you’re shipping a backend feature. The next you’re on site at a live deployment, keeping a humanoid running in front of thousands of people and fixing whatever breaks in real time. You’ll work directly with the founders and our founding hardware engineering team, and own real parts of the product from day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and ship features across our stack: on-robot Python software, cloud backend services and APIs, and our web dashboard
• Run on-site robot deployments in NYC: setup, operation, troubleshooting, and teardown at events, venues and outdoor locations
• Work hands-on with humanoid robots: bringing up sensors, displays and audio, deploying content, and integrating voice and personality
• Build data pipelines that turn on-robot sensor data into reliable metrics for customers
• Turn feedback from deployments into product fixes, often within the same week
• Work with customers and partners on site to understand what they need and deliver it

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Studying Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong Python skills; experience building APIs or backend services
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and systems
• Comfortable debugging under pressure in uncontrolled, real-world environments
• Confident representing the company at live events: clear, calm, and good with people
• Available for on-site work in NYC, including some evenings and weekends
• Physically able to transport and handle robot equipment

Nice to have

• ROS2, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo or other robotics SDK experience
• Embedded or edge computing (Jetson, Android devices)
• Frontend experience with React or Next.js
• Exposure to media, marketing tech or live events
• Side projects that involve hardware
