About the Role
Iberia Medical Center (IMC) is seeking a Medical Lab Technician, Floater, responsible for maintaining skills in manual and automated testing of moderate and high complexity across all laboratory sections.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain skills in manual and automated testing of moderate and high complexity.
- Perform testing in chemistry, hematology, coag, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank, and immunology.
- Follow QC and QA protocols.
- Become proficient in using the Laboratory Information System.
- Abide by all regulatory requirements including CAP, TJC, CMS, and OIG.
- Participate in proficiency testing.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required.
- Bachelors degree is preferred.
- Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or AMT.
- Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with the LSBME.
- 6 months Clinical training through an approved MLT training hospital or previous MLT experience.
- Working knowledge of testing of waived, moderate, and high complexity in:
- General Chemistry
- Special Chemistry
- Therapeutic Drugs
- Toxicology
- Hematology
- Coagulation
- Urinalysis
- Blood Bank
- Parasitology
- Serology
- Microbiology
- Analytical computer skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory workflow.
