About the Role

FSM Sports is looking for a Business Development Representative to help drive revenue growth across our portfolio of school partnerships. This is an entry-level role for someone who wants to build a career in sports sales. You’ll learn the full partnership lifecycle (prospecting, selling, renewing, and growing relationships) while managing a starter book of sponsorship accounts. You’ll work closely with our Director of Sales, who will coach you through the sales process and bring you into larger, more complex deals as you grow. This role offers hands-on training and a clear path to grow into a Business Development Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and generate new business sponsorship opportunities within the school and high school sports market
  • Run outreach by phone, email, and in person to book meetings with local and regional businesses
  • Learn and manage the sales cycle, from outreach and pitching to negotiation and closing, with support from sales leadership
  • Help retain and grow sponsorship revenue across an assigned group of school partnerships
  • Support partnership renewals and spot upsell and expansion opportunities within current accounts
  • Assist the Director of Sales on larger, multi-school and district-level deals
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective partners, logging activity and updating forecasts in our CRM
  • Prepare partnership proposals and sponsorship packages using FSM Sports templates and offerings
  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for assigned accounts, keeping partners informed and satisfied
  • Flag at-risk accounts early and work with leadership on retention plans
  • Coordinate with the Art and Operations departments so partners are onboarded smoothly and deliverables are fulfilled
  • Stay current on trends in sports marketing, sponsorship, and high school athletics
  • Report on pipeline activity and progress toward sales goals

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in sales, business development, customer service, or another client-facing role (internships count)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sports management, marketing, communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Genuine interest in sports, especially high school athletics and the communities around them
  • Strong communication skills and confidence talking to new people by phone, email, and in person
  • Competitive, goal-driven mindset. Former athletes, team captains, and anyone who has worked toward measurable targets are encouraged to apply
  • Coachable and eager to learn; open to feedback and committed to improving every week
  • Organized, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and follow-ups at once
  • Comfortable with basic technology (Google Workspace or Microsoft Office); CRM experience is a plus but not required, and we’ll train you
  • Self-starter who can work with some independence in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

  • Base salary of $50,000, plus commission.
