We provide turnkey engineering and construction services focused on reducing clients' energy and operating costs through energy efficiency, infrastructure upgrades, smart building technology, fleet EV infrastructure, clean energy generation, and sustainability.
This is an entry-level Energy Engineer position supporting data-driven management reporting. The role involves collecting, organizing, validating, and maintaining information from regional teams to create consistent reports that help leadership understand business and project performance. The primary focus is data aggregation, quality, reporting, and ongoing maintenance, not independent engineering design or project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Aggregation and Organization
- Collect and consolidate information from regional offices, business systems, spreadsheets, and project teams.
- Organize project, operational, and energy-performance information into standardized templates and centralized datasets.
- Reconcile differences in regional reporting formats, terminology, units, and project identifiers.
- Coordinate with regional contacts to obtain missing information and clarify inconsistent submissions.
- Support the initial consolidation of historical information and the recurring collection of new data.
- Data Quality and Maintenance
- Review data for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
- Identify duplicate records, missing fields, unusual values, and discrepancies between sources; work with data owners to resolve them.
- Maintain consolidated datasets, reporting files, and supporting documentation.
- Establish and follow recurring update schedules, validation checks, and version-control procedures.
- Document data sources, field definitions, calculation methods, reporting assumptions, and ownership.
- Follow established requirements for data access and confidential business information.
- Analysis and Management Reporting
- Prepare recurring reports, dashboards, and management summaries showing regional and company-wide performance.
- Analyze trends, variances, and exceptions across regions, projects, and reporting periods.
- Help track measures such as project status, project development activity, implementation schedules, energy savings, and financial performance.
- Translate detailed information into clear tables, charts, and concise explanations for management.
- Respond to ad hoc information requests and clearly communicate data limitations or unresolved discrepancies.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookup functions, pivot tables, charts, and working with multiple datasets.
- Experience with Power Query, Power BI, Tableau, or similar data preparation and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, or other tools used to clean, combine, or automate data.
- Exposure to HVAC, lighting, building automation, utility consumption analysis, or energy-efficiency projects.
- Familiarity with energy savings calculations, utility data, or measurement and verification concepts.
- Experience working with CRM, ERP, project-management, or financial reporting systems.
- Engineer-in-Training certification or interest in pursuing professional engineering licensure, where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, energy systems, applied mathematics, data analytics, or a related technical field.
- Zero to two years of relevant experience; internships, co-op assignments, and academic projects are welcome.
- Ability to organize and analyze information, identify inconsistencies, and document work clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to perform recurring data-maintenance tasks accurately and consistently.
- Ability to communicate professionally with technical and nontechnical colleagues.
- Organizational skills sufficient to manage recurring deadlines and follow up with multiple contributors.
- Interest in energy efficiency, building systems, and the ESCO business.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time/workload.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priorities with end users.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
