Design Engineer Associate

About the Role

This role supports the Power Efficiency Solutions (PES) Motors Solutions business by executing requisition activities, including drafting and documentation for samples, new model releases, and engineering changes, with a focus on zero errors and within predefined timelines. The position operates on a hybrid model, requiring onsite presence at the designated Regal Rexnord location with remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides tactical support to design or improve basic components and products using a basic understanding of design tools and methods.
• Optimizes basic components and products with a basic understanding of analysis methods.
• Assists in solving basic problems with an aptitude for basic problem-solving skills.
• Supports Mechanical Design activities such as Modelling, Drawing, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for new product development within the Global CR Business.
• Owns Sampling, New Model Releases (NMRs), Engineering Changes (ECs), and related requisition activities.
• Supports Material Cost out and Simplification Projects.
• May assist in capturing customer needs and developing simple product specifications, translating customer needs to manufacturing requirements.
• Drives continuous improvement in all above activities.
• May assist in developing basic test plans from existing test protocols for routine products or components.
• Executes engineering change requests and releases of new models/components for customers, MCOs, and NPDs.
• Supports sampling, NMRs, BOM work, and documentation for China & Piedras Negras plants.
• Partners with engineers and the application team to produce required BOMs and drawings.
• Aims to improve NMR & ECR Leadtime by 50% YOY with no impact to drafting errors.
• Provides responsive, helpful support to internal and external customers, including follow-up communication to ensure positive customer interactions.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Demonstrated proficiency in operation and use of CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of Mechanical Drawing Industry Standards, Tolerances, Notes, and Material Specifications.
• Very good computer skills.
• Good organization skills and work accuracy.
• Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Good communication skills.
• Self-motivated and ability to work well with others while building relationships.
• Highly customer centric individual who moves quickly to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Diploma / bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 0-2+ years’ experience in motors, machines & electronics.

Desired Education / Experience / Skills

• Green Belt Trained or Certified.
• Experienced with a PLM (Product Life Management) system.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems, electric motors, or airflow concepts.
