About the Role

Craftwork is building a modern, technology-enabled home services company, starting with residential painting. We employ our painters full-time and manage the entire customer experience using proprietary software, which allows us to consistently deliver excellent quality and service while creating meaningful careers in the trades.

Craftwork is looking for a Brand Design Intern to help bring our brand to life through thoughtful, consistent design that supports our next stage of growth. This person will support the creation of materials that make Craftwork recognizable, communicate our services clearly, and reflect the quality and care we bring to our work. You’ll contribute to projects across digital and print, including marketing campaigns, social content, local events, and customer-facing materials. A central part of this role will be working closely with the marketing team to turn ideas and business needs into effective creative work. You’ll help develop concepts, carry designs through revisions and final production, and adapt existing assets for different channels and markets. Along the way, you’ll help maintain organized design files and reusable templates that make it easier for teams to produce consistent materials as Craftwork grows. This is a hands-on role for an emerging designer who is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn through real projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver High-Quality Digital & Print Design
  • Create clear, polished designs for social media, digital advertisements, printed collateral, and other marketing materials.
  • Use typography, color, imagery, and layout thoughtfully to communicate.
  • Prepare files for their intended channel, checking dimensions, resolution, and production requirements before delivery.
  • Maintain Consistent & Recognizable Branding
  • Apply our visual identity consistently across channels, materials, and markets.
  • Adapt existing designs for new uses while preserving the elements that make our brand recognizable.
  • Identify inconsistencies and help refine assets so every customer touchpoint reflects the quality and care of our work.
  • Support Marketing Campaigns
  • Work with the marketing team to create assets that support campaigns, neighborhood programs, partnerships, and local events.
  • Adapt campaign materials for different markets, audiences, and channels.
  • Bring Craftwork’s Work & Stories to Life
  • Turn project photography, before-and-afters, and customer testimonials into compelling branded content that highlights the quality of our work.
  • Partner with the marketing team to create stories that help prospective customers understand our service and feel confident choosing Craftwork.
  • Build Organized Assets & Templates
  • Maintain organized design files and create reusable templates for recurring marketing needs, to help teammates produce consistent materials efficiently.
  • Keep templates and shared assets up to date as designs are refined and new needs emerge.
  • Carry Design Projects from Brief to Delivery
  • Clarify each project’s audience, message, deliverables, and timeline before beginning design work.
  • Share concepts, incorporate feedback, and communicate progress or blockers throughout the project.
  • Review final work for accuracy and completeness, then hand off files in formats teammates and vendors can use.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Design tools such as Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, AI Agents (ChatGPT, Claude, Replit)
  • Eagerness to learn unfamiliar tools.
  • Ability to prepare and export assets for different channels and production.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in typography, color, composition, and visual hierarchy.
  • Ability to create designs that communicate a clear message and work well across digital and print.
  • Ability to explain design choices in terms of the audience, purpose, and brand.
  • Understanding of how individual design choices contribute to a recognizable brand.
  • Ability to work with an established visual identity and bring fresh ideas to its application.
  • Ability to notice when an asset feels inconsistent and identify what needs to change.
  • Ability to combine imagery and copy to tell a clear, compelling story.
  • Consideration of what customers need to understand when they encounter a design.
  • Curiosity about customers, painters, and the work itself, to inform creative decisions.
  • Attention to detail, taking pride in accurate, polished work and catching issues with copy, alignment, spacing, and image quality.
  • Ability to manage commitments, meet agreed deadlines, and communicate early when help is needed.
  • Ability to carry revisions through to completion and check work before handing it off.
  • Willingness to share work early, welcome feedback, and apply it thoughtfully.
  • Clear communication and ability to ask questions when a brief or priority is unclear.
  • Low ego, accountability, and motivation to develop craft while helping the team and company succeed.
  • Comfort taking an open-ended idea or an incomplete brief and turning into a clear design direction.
  • Ability to create an initial concept or template from scratch, ask thoughtful questions, and improve it through feedback.
  • Taking initiative and using tools and context available to move work forward.
