FIELD ASSESSMENT ENGINEER

About the Role

Vigor Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a technically sound, field-oriented engineer to support site assessments, technical feasibility studies, and customer coordination for their expanding residential solar business in the Chengalpattu region.

Job Summary

The Field Assessment Engineer will visit customer sites to assess rooftop suitability for solar installations, collect technical information, prepare site assessment reports, and coordinate with sales, design, and execution teams for accurate system sizing and smooth project implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Assessment & Technical Feasibility
• Visit residential, commercial, and industrial customer sites across the Chengalpattu & Kanchipuram region.
• Assess rooftop area, roof type, structural condition, shading, and accessibility.
• Evaluate the suitability of the site for rooftop solar installation.
• Identify potential installation challenges, safety risks, and access constraints.
• Assess the location of the electrical meter, inverter, cable routing, and proposed solar panel installation area.
• Record electricity consumption details, sanctioned load, existing electrical infrastructure, and available EB connection details.
• Identify whether the customer has a suitable electricity meter arrangement for solar export and net metering, subject to utility requirements.
• Technical Data Collection & Documentation
• Take clear photographs and videos of the rooftop, electrical panel, meter, cable routes, and proposed installation locations.
• Measure the available rooftop area and record relevant dimensions.
• Collect electricity bills, meter details, sanctioned load information, and other documents required for preliminary assessment.
• Prepare accurate site assessment reports with observations, measurements, photographs, and recommendations.
• Upload all site visit details and supporting documents to the company CRM promptly.
• Coordination with Sales & Design Teams
• Coordinate with the sales team to understand customer requirements before site visits.
• Provide technical inputs for suitable solar system capacity estimation.
• Share site measurements, photographs, shading observations, and electrical details with the design team.
• Highlight technical constraints that may affect system capacity, project cost, or installation feasibility.
• Support the sales team in explaining basic technical aspects of rooftop solar to customers.
• Project Execution Support
• Coordinate with the execution team during project handover and clarify site-specific observations.
• Assist with pre-installation verification whenever required.
• Verify that actual site conditions are consistent with the initial assessment.
• Report changes in site conditions or technical issues to the project manager.

• Familiarity with site assessment methodologies.
• Proficiency in data collection and documentation.
• Experience with CRM systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• Engineering background is preferred.
• Ability to work independently in the field.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
