Entry Level Software Engineer

About the Role

Amentum is seeking Software Engineers for its USN advanced technology development team. This role focuses on coding, optimizing, and building software speed and efficiency in an R&D setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Developing graphical user interfaces for local tools with the team of users.
• Developing software updates using C++, Rational Team Concert, GitLab, and other DevOps tools.
• Supporting test events through travel opportunities.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Active Secret US Government Clearance. (US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret clearance.)
• Knowledge in definition and management of software requirements, design, code, benchmark testing, debugging, software development lifecycle, architecture, and documentation.
• Plans, performs, and leads software design, coding, and testing.
• Experience in an Agile software development environment and familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with Atlassian tool suites, including Jira (for issue tracking) and Confluence (decision tracking).
• Familiarity with source code tracking tools (i.e., Git, Bitbucket).
• C++ or C# (Preferred).
• Ability to commute to Fredericksburg or Dahlgren, VA.
• Candidates must maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Math, Computer Science, and/or Physics with entry-level experience.
