Retail Associate, Full Time

About the Role

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Indiana, Inc. is seeking Retail Associates for their store in Huntington, IN. This role offers a predictable schedule with every other weekend off and the opportunity to spend major holidays with family.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with purchases, operating the cash register accurately and effectively.
• Maintain the sales floor, stocking and organizing merchandise.
• Sort and grade donations.
• Price items for the sales floor.
• Assist donors by helping bring donations into the building and issuing tax receipts.
• Operate a POS terminal.
• Count back change.
• Keep cash register area orderly and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Maintain floor and fitting rooms during business hours.
• Refer customer problems to management.
• Sort, hang, and tag clothing donations according to established guidelines.
• Pull items according to established procedures.
• Meet established production standards.
• Handle all aspects of customer service in a professional manner.
• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise and prices.
• Display merchandise in windows/display cases.
• Answer telephone and other inquiries regarding donation sites/policies.
• Attend monthly store meetings.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• POS terminal
• Credit card machine
• Carts, z-racks, gaylord boxes
• Gloves for sorting donations
• Tagger guns

Qualifications

• Ability to make change.
• Basic literacy (to complete forms).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
• Ability to work within the team concept.
• Friendly demeanor.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Minimum of three months working experience required.
• Lift, push, or pull up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally and 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Subject to background check.
• Subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
