Junior IT Security & Operations Specialist

About the Role

Mecka is seeking a Junior IT & Security Operations Specialist to ensure smooth and secure daily operations. This role involves being a primary contact for technology needs, managing employee devices and access, and learning to review routine security findings. You will work closely with the Security/IT Lead for guidance on complex issues and production changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and support Windows and Mac laptops, including setup, software installation, inventory, and troubleshooting.
• Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding by following approved account, device, and access procedures.
• Respond to employee support requests clearly and promptly, documenting fixes and escalating unresolved issues.
• Monitor endpoint enrollment, software updates, patch status, and routine vulnerability findings.
• Review routine security alerts and logs, record relevant details, and escalate suspicious activity.
• Maintain clear setup guides, asset records, and operational checklists.
• Assist with supervised work in Google Workspace, Authentik, Linux, Ansible, Elastic, and other tools.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Up to two years of IT support or systems experience (internships, coursework, certifications, and hands-on personal projects count).
• Comfort troubleshooting common Windows or macOS problems.
• Basic understanding of user accounts, permissions, networking, and safe handling of company data.
• Good written communication, attention to detail, and willingness to ask questions and escalate when needed.
• Interest in learning security operations and automation.

Helpful, But Not Required

• Experience with Google Workspace, device management, Linux, scripting, Ansible, Elastic, or identity and access management.

Compensation Range

CA$70K - CA$80K
