Role Overview
The Lab Assistant is responsible for receiving, sorting, and preparing clinical specimens for testing, ensuring accurate specimen handling and data entry. They perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshoot specimen issues, and replenish supplies to support laboratory operations. Additionally, they maintain a clean and safe work environment and complete administrative records.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and prepare clinical specimens for analysis
- Perform specimen and patient information scanning and data entry
- Maintain laboratory equipment functionality and perform minor maintenance
- Troubleshoot specimen-related issues and replenish test bench supplies
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and complete administrative tasks
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Comfort handling biological specimens and accurate identification
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
- Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Preferred: 3+ months specimen processing or medical/laboratory experience
- Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability
- Physical capability to meet job demands
