About the Role
The Veterinary Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position. This role supports veterinarians and pet care specialists with routine animal handling, basic health checks, and assistance during examinations and minor procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Feeding, grooming, and monitoring animals.
- Maintaining clean and safe treatment and boarding areas.
- Preparing equipment and supplies.
- Assisting with client intake.
- Explaining general pet care instructions.
- Answering basic questions.
- Directing customers to appropriate services or products.
- Collaborating with veterinary and retail teams.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including safe handling, basic grooming, and monitoring animal behavior and comfort.
- Ability to provide Client Education on general pet health, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.
- Proficient Customer Service skills, with a focus on clear communication, empathy, and professional interaction.
- Familiarity with Veterinary Medicine basics is beneficial.
- Relevant experience in a veterinary clinic, pet store, animal shelter, or similar environment is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site, including standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and maintaining a clean workspace.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow protocols and instructions accurately.
- Completion of a veterinary assistant course, animal science program, or related certification is an advantage.
