Backend Developer Intern

About the Role

Purple Business is an AI-powered business growth platform seeking a technically strong Backend Developer Intern to help build scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems for their mobile and web applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services using Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Design and implement scalable REST APIs, backend services, and integrations.
• Follow modular architecture to build reusable, maintainable, and independently testable backend components.
• Apply SOLID principles, clean code practices, and appropriate design patterns.
• Understand MVVM architecture and collaborate with Flutter developers for clean integration between mobile applications and backend APIs.
• Work with databases, authentication systems, data models, and third-party services.
• Use proxy and network debugging tools such as Charles Proxy, Proxyman, and Postman to inspect API requests, responses, and troubleshoot issues.
• Implement analytics, event tracking, logging, and performance monitoring across backend services.
• Integrate AI APIs, external platforms, and automation workflows.
• Write unit and integration tests, debug issues, and improve backend reliability.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, Flutter developers, designers, and founders to deliver production-ready features.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong understanding of Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and backend development fundamentals.
• Practical knowledge of modularization, SOLID principles, and clean architecture.
• Familiarity with MVVM architecture and how mobile applications interact with backend services.
• Experience building REST APIs using Express.js, NestJS, or similar frameworks.
• Understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Firebase.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, API security, and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with Postman, Charles Proxy, Proxyman, or similar API debugging tools.
• Understanding of analytics, event tracking, application logs, and error monitoring.
• Familiarity with Git, testing, debugging, and basic deployment workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Familiarity with Docker, Redis, caching, queues, and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience integrating AI models, LLM APIs, and third-party services.
• Understanding of scalable system design, database optimization, and API performance.
• Previous experience building or deploying production backend applications.
