Key Responsibilities
- Develop cost estimates for cast, forged, and machined components and assemblies across concept, design, and development stages.
- Perform should-cost analysis covering material grades, part weight, manufacturing process, cycle time, tooling, labor, and overheads.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and Creo models to assess manufacturability and cost drivers.
- Evaluate sand casting, die casting, and investment casting processes, including tooling and yield considerations.
- Estimate open-die and closed-die forging costs by considering billet size, press capacity, trimming, and heat treatment.
- Assess machining costs for CNC turning, milling, drilling, finishing operations, and setup times.
- Analyze the cost impact of design changes, tolerance updates, material substitutions, and process-route modifications.
- Analyze and validate supplier quotations for cast, forged, and machined components.
- Develop and maintain process-specific cost models, databases, and estimation templates.
- Identify and drive cost-reduction and VA/VE opportunities while maintaining structural integrity, quality, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers working at different global technical centers.
- Coordinate with OEM and supplier.
