Job Title: Climbing Arborist Trainee
Location: Chicago Area (Downers Grove, IL, Chicago, IL, Wheeling, IL)
About the Role
- The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist Trainee to join their team.
- Your office will be outdoors with a new view every day.
- This is a Full Time, Permanent position.
- Travel expectations are up to 25%.
Key Responsibilities
- Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs.
- Perform duties to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas.
- Learn to climb trees.
- Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
- Learn to perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
- Learn tree identification and industry pruning guidelines.
- Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
- Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Assist in the removal of hazardous trees.
- Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
- Tools and equipment: Chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
Qualifications
- Love of the outdoors.
- Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
- Preferred: Relevant pesticde and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.
