IoT Software Developer

About the Role

This role is for an IoT Edge Software Developer within the Device Engineering Team (DET). You will contribute to the development, maintenance, and support of software running on edge devices that collect machine data, communicate securely with cloud platforms, and enable remote management at scale. You will work with Windows-based edge devices, cloud-connected applications, and device lifecycle management processes. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys hands-on software development, troubleshooting complex device and connectivity issues, and working at the intersection of industrial systems, edge computing, and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement software components and features based on provided designs, specifications, and guidance.
• Contribute to the development of reliable, maintainable, and secure code.
• Apply agreed coding standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Make basic technical decisions within assigned tasks, escalating questions or uncertainties.
• Translate assigned requirements and tasks into working software.
• Complete development work in alignment with sprint goals and delivery commitments.
• Contribute to task breakdowns and effort estimates.
• Proactively raise risks, blockers, or implementation issues.
• Write clean, testable code and contribute to unit and integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews, incorporating feedback.
• Ensure individual contributions meet Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD) criteria.
• Follow established DevOps, security, and quality practices.
• Assist in troubleshooting defects and issues in development and production environments.
• Support corrective (bug fixes) and evolutive (enhancements) maintenance of existing solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with other developers, QA, Product Owners, and Tech Leads.
• Seek feedback and guidance to continuously improve technical skills.
• Actively learn the systems, tools, and technologies used by the team.
• Contribute positively to team culture and shared ownership of outcomes.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proficiency in C# and the .NET platform
• Working knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
• Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Git repositories, and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts
• Familiarity with device communication protocols such as MQTT, OPC-UA, or similar technologies
• Experience using AI assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot) responsibly, with full accountability for code quality, security, and compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Assets

• Hands-on experience with IoT, industrial automation, edge computing, or device lifecycle management
• Experience with Azure IoTHub, DPS, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, or Azure Data Explorer
• Experience supporting Windows based machines
• Familiarity with OTA software and firmware update mechanisms
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy controls for IoT environments
