About the Role
The Centre of Excellence in Oil, Gas and Energy (CoEOGE) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher. This is a full-time, on-site research position based at IIT Bombay, Mumbai. The role focuses on developing catalytic pathways for converting ethylene into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)-range hydrocarbons.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake experimental and analytical research involving ethylene oligomerization and subsequent upgrading to SAF-range hydrocarbons.
- Focus on catalyst development, product distribution, process optimisation, and detailed characterization of liquid fuels.
- Conduct research in collaboration with faculty and industry partners.
- Analyze and interpret data.
- Prepare technical reports and manuscripts.
- Present findings in internal reviews and external conferences.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Experience in thermal/thermocatalytic hydrocarbon conversion, such as hydroprocessing, hydrocracking, hydroisomerization, olefin oligomerisation, or related processes.
- Strong hands-on experience in analysis of complex liquid hydrocarbon mixtures, particularly in the jet fuel/SAF/diesel-kerosene range.
- Proficiency in techniques such as GC/GC-MS, simulated distillation, and detailed hydrocarbon/speciation analysis.
- Experience in heterogeneous catalyst development and continuous-flow catalytic reactors.
- Experience with GC×GC would be highly desirable.
Qualifications
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Catalysis, or a related field.
