About the Role

The Operations Early Career Entry Program is designed to develop graduates technically and professionally to become future leaders at State Street. The program offers a collaborative and dynamic environment with support from individual mentors and development programs.

Internship dates: January 2027 – July 2027

Required to participate in person for the full duration, working from the office 5 days a week.

Why this role is important to us

State Street's Global Delivery Function serves as the foundation of the organization, helping clients achieve better investment outcomes by performing operational functions for back and middle office products and services. This includes custody, accounting, fund administration, transfer agency, middle office, and cash processing services.

Key Responsibilities

As an Intern, you will be part of one of the following departments:

• Fund Accountant:
• Calculate net asset values of funds by processing daily accounting functions.
• Ensure fund prices are accurate and delivered to clients timely.
• Act as the central point of contact for accounting support functions.
• Analyze information to monitor and resolve discrepancies.
• Financial Reporting Specialist:
• Prepare financial statements for annual and interim cycles.
• Complete first drafts of audited annual and un-audited interim financial statements from trial balance, including Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Schedule of Investments, and notes to financial statements.
• Derivatives Specialist:
• Process complex futures and options for European exchange-traded derivatives.
• Handle the Centre of Excellence book of business and supplementary business.
• Act as the central point of contact for clearing banks and client service teams.
• Process some cash instructions and improve processes for recording derivative instruments.
• Financial Accountant:
• Perform accounting processes including document processing, journal processing, payment preparation, and account reconciliation.
• Verify reports and perform other assigned projects.
• Treasury Accountant:
• Perform treasury processes including transaction processing (money market, stock market), payment preparation/approval, and collateral management/margins.
• Monitor minimum required reserves.
• Reconcile bank accounts (cash positions, balance sheet reports).
• Perform other assigned projects.
• Transfer Agency Administrator:
• Process trades and maintain investor accounts.
• Handle issue reporting and resolution.
• Process investor transactions: review documentation for anti-money laundering (AML) compliance and enter subscriptions.
• Middle Office Administrator:
• Process daily trade files submitted by the Fund on trade-date.
• Confirm trades (electronic, telephonic, or hard copy).
• Monitor trade fails with prime brokers, counterparties, and the Fund.
• Review prime broker/custodian fail or mismatch reports.
• Pricing Administrator:
• Assist in the accurate and efficient pricing of securities held by investment funds.
• Price exchange-traded securities and validate against sources like Bloomberg, Reuters, and FTID.
• Risk Analyst:
• Assist in establishing and maintaining risk management policies, guidelines, and limits within Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).
• Support management in minimizing operational, credit, legal, regulatory, reputation, and other risks.
• Compliance Analyst:
• Monitor compliance results on client portfolios related to regulatory and Investment Manager (IM) mandates.
• Utilize State Street’s Investment Compliance & Reporting platform for research, analysis, and reporting.
• Ensure portfolios comply with investment restrictions.
• Data Management Analyst:
• Procure data necessary for daily compliance and conformity checks in collaboration with IT and business units.
• Update and maintain market data, static data, and holdings data not automatically fed to core applications.
• Anti-Money Laundering Specialist:
• Review investor anti-money laundering (AML) documentation in line with AML policies.
• Liaise with Transfer Agency teams to obtain required data from investors and/or clients.

Qualifications

• Final Year Students enrolled in full-time undergraduate degree programs in Finance, Accounting, or Economics are preferred. Applicants from other disciplines may also apply.
