About GM3

GM3 is the agentic workflow layer for mobile-app user acquisition. It allows users to set up, optimize, and monitor paid campaigns across Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Apple Ads, AppLovin, Moloco, and Liftoff from a single platform. Campaigns are managed as versioned specs with a normalized data shape across every network and MMP. GM3 addresses the gap where app marketers spend billions annually through a fragmented system of network dashboards, spreadsheets, and BI tools, while ad networks increasingly use their own automation.

The Role

This is GM3's first engineering role and the CTO position from day one, with founder-level equity. The CTO will own infrastructure and the technical aspects of the product. The CEO will co-own product and oversee operations, strategy, Go-To-Market, and fundraising. The Chief Business Officer (CBO) will manage sales, business development, revenue, and customer retention. The product roadmap will be determined by the CEO, CTO, and CBO, with input from the technical advisor.

Year One Objectives

  • Transition GM3 from a prototype to a production V1 within 6 months, running real spend for 3–5 design partners.
  • Own the architecture, including the multi-network connector layer, normalized campaign and performance data model, and the agent layer.
  • Secure and maintain partner API access with Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Apple Ads, AppLovin, Moloco, and Liftoff, with plans to expand to additional partners and distribution channels.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to define the product's form factor (IDE/CLI-native, GM3 desktop app, or both) and ship it.
  • Participate in fundraising conversations as the technical founder.
  • Hire the first 2–3 engineers after the seed round is secured.

Building the Platform

Over the first 6–12 months, the CTO will be responsible for writing most of the code, leveraging AI and agentic coding tools heavily. The focus will be on code quality, testing, and reliability. The CTO will decide where agents are trusted and build the majority of the product brought to market, working closely with the technical advisor.

Platform Layers

  • Connectors: Authenticated integrations with Meta Marketing API, Google Ads API, TikTok Business API, Apple Ads, and major MMPs like AppsFlyer, Adjust, and Kochava. This involves managing rate limits, pagination, authentication, and schema drift.
  • Normalized Data Model: A unified data structure for campaigns, ad sets, creatives, spend, and attributed events across all sources, with campaigns defined as versioned, diffable specs.
  • Agent Layer: LLM-driven agents for setup, optimization, and monitoring, capable of reasoning over data, proposing changes, and executing them, with a human approval step for spend.
  • Surface: The user interface, including CLI and IDE integration, scheduled report artifacts, and potentially a GM3 desktop app. This is an open product decision to be made.

Current Stack

  • Python
  • TypeScript
  • The CTO is free to change the stack.

Who We're Looking For (Must-Haves)

  • Experience building within mobile advertising or ad tech (e.g., DSP, bidder, ad network, MMP, UA tooling, or an in-house UA/growth engineering team).
  • Experience building against at least one major ad-platform API (Meta, Google, TikTok, Apple) or an MMP API.
  • Shipped and operated production software that moves money or spend, understanding the costs of failure.
  • Led or been the senior engineer on a small team, with the ability to hire.
  • Fluent with LLMs as a building block (tool use, agent loops, evals, cost and latency, and limitations).
  • Desire for real technical ownership and a founder's stake, with an equity-heavy, salary-light initial compensation model.
  • Commitment to building a high-quality product in a large, underserved market.

Strong Signals (Not Requirements)

  • Experience on the buy side (running or building for a UA team's daily workflow).
  • Prior startup founding or early-employee experience through a raise.
  • Experience with data pipelines handling millions of daily events.
  • Current use of AI coding agents as a core part of the development workflow.
  • A CS degree, specific language proficiency, or FAANG experience are not considered.

What We Offer

  • Founder-level equity.
  • Cash: Early-stage startup level salary, progressing to market-rate founder salary post-raise.
  • Title: Founding CTO.
  • Reporting to: CEO.
  • Decision Rights: Ownership of infrastructure, the stack, the technical product, and engineering hiring. Co-ownership of the product roadmap with the CEO.
  • Location: San Francisco / Bay Area preferred.
