Role Description

The Sports Editor role at Criclive.in is a full-time, on-site position based in Janakpuri. This role will oversee daily sports coverage, with a primary focus on cricket and secondary attention to football. The Sports Editor will be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging content across various formats including articles, match reports, features, and opinion pieces.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily sports coverage, focusing on cricket and football.
• Assign and edit stories, refining headlines and layouts.
• Manage press releases.
• Coordinate with writers and contributors to maintain editorial standards.
• Monitor live matches and news feeds.
• Shape content around major events.
• Enhance fan engagement through clear, compelling, and insightful sports journalism.
• Collaborate with digital and social media teams.

Qualifications

• Strong Sports Writing and general Writing skills.
• Background in Journalism, including knowledge of editorial best practices, news judgment, and ethical reporting standards.
• Experience drafting and editing Press Releases, media notes, and official statements.
• Deep understanding of Football and cricket, including rules, trends, major leagues, tournaments, and fan culture.
• Excellent editing and proofreading abilities.
• Ability to lead and coordinate with writers and contributors.
• Strong research skills.
• Familiarity with digital publishing tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Willingness to work match-driven hours, including evenings, weekends, and peak tournament periods.
