Research Associate

About the Role

Evotec is seeking a passionate and curious Research Associate to join its Bioengineering team in Rahway, New Jersey. This role focuses on protein expression and next generation sequencing within a leading protein engineering group.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply strong technical skills to execute assignments and experiments within project timelines.
• Provide input into experimental design and aid in technical problem-solving and workflow improvement.
• Communicate technical details and results through physical records, electronic notebooks, conversations, and email.
• Ensure data is recorded in laboratory information management systems and sample inventories are accurate.
• Maintain an efficient, well-stocked, safe, and compliant laboratory environment.
• Gain exposure to protein engineering design and directed evolution approaches for generating novel biocatalysts and biopharmaceuticals.
• Receive on-the-job training through coaching and mentoring.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Full-time experience in a research laboratory setting.
• Hands-on experience with and knowledge of standard microbiological practices for working with biosafety level 1 organisms.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Ability to deliver high-quality results with accurate documentation.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Availability for travel to Princeton, NJ, for training and quarterly meetings.
• Ability to work a weekend schedule as needed, maintaining 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
