Guidance/Navigation/Control Engineering Asc
Lockheed Martin
About the Role
Designs, develops, implements, verifies, and tests modeling and simulation products to perform guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) of missile applications during powered and coast phases of flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise, orbital insertion, and staging events.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform as a GN&C engineer and system integrator through concept, simulation, model-based design, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and flight-ready prototype delivery.
- Produce detailed algorithmic specifications, implementation requirements, documentation, and verification plans.
- Coordinate closely with perception, mission planning, simulation, and test teams for seamless system integration.
- Translate customer operational needs into technical solutions that leverage cutting-edge GN&C capabilities.
- Communicate technical strategies, risks, and progress to senior leadership, program managers, and external partners.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Familiarity in SW development environments like Git using programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, FORTRAN, or Ada.
- Experience using a Linux-based operating system.
- Experience integrating and testing hardware and software in Hardware In-the-Loop (HWIL).
- Experience with flight-control hardware, actuator interfaces, and inertial sensors.
Qualifications
- BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree.
- Solid foundation in linear algebra, dynamics, coordinate frame transformations, and fundamental control theory (e.g., PI filters, Laplace transform, Fourier analysis, state-space modeling).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including generation and presentation of verification plans, analysis reports, algorithm description documentation, and other technical documents.
- Effective oral presentation skills for design reviews.
- US Citizenship and an ability to attain Secret Clearance is required.
