Business Data Analyst, Front Office

About the Role

HSBC is seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst - Front Office to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and deliver AI, automation, and analytics use cases to improve productivity, reduce manual effort, and strengthen business management processes.
• Translate business needs into practical technical solutions using Generative AI, Python, SQL, reporting tools, and workflow automation.
• Manage end-to-end project delivery, including scoping, planning, coordination, testing, implementation, and adoption.
• Proactively identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve efficiency during solution design and implementation.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across regions and functions, communicating complex issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ensure solutions are developed with appropriate governance, controls, documentation, and responsible AI practices.
• Work collaboratively across global teams in a matrix environment. Build credibility through strong execution, ownership, and quality of delivery.
• Take initiative, operate independently, and manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment.
• Contribute positively to team effectiveness, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong hands-on experience in AI, analytics, automation, and technical business problem-solving.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with Generative AI tools and concepts, including prompt engineering, use case design, output evaluation, model limitations, hallucination risk, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Experience developing or supporting AI-enabled solutions such as workflow assistants, document intelligence, analytical copilots, search/retrieval tools, management reporting enhancements, or automation solutions.
• Strong knowledge of data analysis, data transformation, reporting logic, controls validation, and dashboard design.
• Experience with visualization / BI tooling such as Tableau, Qlik Sense, Power BI, or similar.
• Good understanding of APIs, data flows, and translating business requirements into technical implementation.
• Strong Excel capability; VBA or related automation experience would be beneficial.
• Proven ability to identify where AI can be applied meaningfully to solve business problems and drive measurable value.
• Good understanding of the practical application of LLMs, workflow automation, NLP / document processing, knowledge retrieval, and AI-enabled productivity tooling.
• Ability to assess AI use cases through the lens of business value, technical feasibility, governance, and adoption.
• Understanding of responsible AI considerations in a corporate environment.
• Experience piloting, implementing, or scaling AI solutions in a business setting is strongly preferred.
