About the Role
The Edge Platform team at Akamai Technologies plans, builds, maintains, and operates a global platform, ensuring reliable availability and performance for customers. This team designs, develops, and deploys essential technologies, including hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
As a Software Engineer I, you will work on high-reliability/high-throughput systems that manage customer security certificates and configurations. Your work will center around building systems that operate at large scale, with high resilience and performance, and provide support to other teams requiring secure delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and developing systems capable of handling tens of thousands of concurrent operations
- Developing software to make efficient use of Relational Database Management Systems and NoSQL databases
- Creating new features from scratch, enhancing existing features, and optimizing existing functionality
- Following good development methodology, including collaboration with testing and SQA departments to successfully deploy new system components
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Academic or project-based training in Java
- Familiarity with Python, C++, or Bash in Linux/Unix environments
- Hands-on project experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks for building scalable backend applications
- Hands-on project experience with UI technologies using Angular for front-end development solutions
- Foundational understanding or project coursework in Terraform
- Understanding of SQL, relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres), and NoSQL databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Cassandra) through projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
