Software Engineering Intern, Summer

About the Role

Carrier has an opening for a Computer Scientist or Software Engineer to serve as a vital member of the eDesign team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining software-based tools used to design and optimize the energy efficiency of Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems for commercial buildings.

Key Responsibilities

• Developing desktop application software for HVAC system design and energy modeling.
• Analyzing software requirements and designing software solutions.
• Coding to implement solutions.
• Working collaboratively with other developers for planning, design & code review, test planning, etc.
• Performing unit and system testing.
• Participating in Agile development process.
• Participating in team project meetings.
• Evaluating and identifying new libraries, tools, and technologies for use by the software development team, as needed.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or any engineering field (junior or senior level).
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Understanding of object-oriented design and analysis (OOD and OOA).
• Demonstrated experience working on independent, self-motivated tasks, with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Experience with software development principles and processes.
• Experience using agentic AI tools for software development.
• Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation communication skills.

Previous internship experience preferred.

Pay Range: $43,500.00 - $87,500.00 annually.
