About the Role
- OptumRx, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking motivated Pharmacy Technicians to join a fully remote team supporting Prior Authorization and medication access workflows.
- This position is ideal for Pharmacy Technicians who enjoy working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, collaborating with providers and pharmacies, and helping patients gain access to the medications they need.
Position Details
- Position: Pharmacy Technician
- Location: Fully Remote
- Pay Rate: $20.50/hour
- Start Date: November 16th, 2026
- Contract Duration: Through June 30, 2027
- Conversion Potential: Strong possibility of converting to a permanent role based on performance, attendance, and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Prior Authorization workflows
- Review and verify patient, prescription, and insurance information
- Communicate with providers, pharmacies, members, and internal teams
- Document and maintain accurate case information
- Assist with medication access and authorization processes
- Work in a phone-based environment handling healthcare-related inquiries
- Navigate multiple systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Active State Pharmacy Technician License
- Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Ability to work remotely from an eligible state
- Reliable internet connection
- HIPAA-compliant workspace
- Ability to pass a Background Check and Drug Screen
Qualifications
- Prior Authorization experience
- Medicare, Medicaid, or Commercial Insurance experience
- Call center or customer service experience
- Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) experience
- Remote work experience
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Training
- Paid training provided
- Training schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Full attendance required during training
