Part-Time Clinical Laboratory Assistant

Role Overview

This position supports technical lab staff by handling specimen collection, receipt, processing, and preparation for testing. It may perform waived and limited moderate complexity testing, adhering to CLIA standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring specimen integrity, and contributing to quality and efficiency in departmental operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and prepare patient samples, ensuring proper identification and specimen integrity.
• Perform waived and moderate complexity testing under supervision, meeting performance standards.
• Conduct quality control, troubleshoot basic issues, and document deviations.
• Assist with inventory management and departmental cost-saving initiatives.
• Support miscellaneous duties such as phlebotomy and staff training.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders, promoting teamwork.

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; phlebotomy/CLA certification required.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and basic computer proficiency.
• Effective communication, problem-solving, and ability to work with interruptions.
• Physical ability to handle specimen processing tasks and operate laboratory equipment safely.

Preferred Experience

• Prior clinical laboratory experience
• Knowledge of specimen handling
• Knowledge of medical terminology
