About the Role

Wood Rodgers is seeking a full-time Assistant Engineer to join our Water Resources’ Flood and Drainage group. This role focuses on Hydraulics/Hydrology. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in flood control, hydrology, hydraulics, and climate resilience, and is driven, quick with learning tools and technology, and has a great “can-do” attitude. This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing as a member of an interdisciplinary modeling team managed by a Senior Level Project Engineer.
• Performing field investigations to visually inspect, measure, photograph, and document storm drainage facilities.
• Preparing civil technical analyses for a wide array of projects in both the Private and Public sectors.
• Performing hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
• Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses in various software.
• Preparing technical reports, maps, and presentations.
• Project scheduling.
• Site inspections.
• Storm drain design.
• Construction cost estimating.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and collaborate within a team setting.
• Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM, XP-SWMM, and/or other H&H modeling programs is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Preferred proficiency in GIS and CAD software with solid working knowledge of their practical applications.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work in office at minimum 3 days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 0 to 2 years of relevant experience, with a solid understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods.
• E.I.T certification and plan to obtain Professional Registration at earliest opportunity.
• Interest in engagement in industry-related professional organizations.
