About the Role
Essentia Health is seeking a licensed practical nurse or certified medical assistant to serve as a float to our orthopedics specialty practices at St. Mary's Clinic in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. This role offers a 32 or 40-hour weekly schedule, with no weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations required.
A medical assistant apprenticeship is available for the right candidate, providing paid training and certification in exchange for a one-year employment commitment upon program completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists RN, Physician, and other providers.
- Provides direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting.
- Performs identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
- Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
For Medical Assistant Apprentices:
- Works at an entry-level under the guidance of a Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse preceptor.
- Performs identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- LPN: Current LPN licensure with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
- CMA: Current registration or certification as a medical assistant OR verifiable completion of a medical assistant program and must become certified within one year of date of hire. Must pass certification within two attempts.
- Apprentice: Completion of the 14-week paid training program through Medcerts, with onsite clinicals. Upon completion, responsible for a 1-year commitment to work as a medical assistant.
- ALL: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
Qualifications
- Education as required for licensure.
Compensation
- LPN or Medical Assistant: $21.72 - $32.58 based on experience.
- Medical Assistant Apprentice: $19.00 Flat Rate.
- Wage will increase to $21.72 hourly upon graduation from the apprentice program.
