About the Role
Flint Hills Resources (FHR), a Koch company, operates refineries, pipelines, and terminals. This is a 12-week Summer 2027 Pipeline Reliability Intern position for the Pipelines and Terminals business unit in Rosemount, MN.
What You Will Do
- Gain real-world, hands-on experience tackling significant projects and problem-solving.
- Learn about Koch Industries, Principle Based Management, and professional development.
- Gain exposure to both rotating and fixed equipment supporting pipeline operations.
- Approximately 30-50% of time will be spent in the field working directly with equipment and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining the reliability and performance of critical pipeline assets, including pump stations, meter stations, pigging facilities, and other pipeline infrastructure.
- Utilize SCADA and other tools to monitor equipment performance, identify trends, and support failure investigations.
- Participate in troubleshooting efforts and root cause analyses for rotating and fixed equipment issues.
- Support reliability and capital projects, including the repair and replacement of pumps, reciprocating compressors, large electric motors, and pipeline relief valves.
- Collaborate with operations personnel, maintenance teams, engineers, and equipment vendors to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Conduct field inspections and assessments while gaining hands-on experience with equipment used throughout pipeline operations.
- Develop recommendations to improve equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance strategies.
- Build an understanding of project management principles through involvement in project planning, execution, and tracking activities.

Qualifications
- Enrolled in a 4-year degree program majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Eligible for full-time employment during or before Summer 2028.
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
