Job Title: LPN, Medical Assistant, or Apprentice - 24 Hours Weekly - Urgent Care
About the Role
Essentia Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for the urgent care at St. Mary's Clinic in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. This position is 24 hours weekly.
The walk-in clinic operates:
- Monday - Friday: 7:45 am to 8:00 pm
- Saturday - Sunday: 7:45 am to 4:00 pm
There is no on-call requirement, but every third weekend and a holiday rotation are required.
Essentia Health is willing to offer a Medical Assistant Apprenticeship to the right candidate. This program provides paid training and certification in exchange for a one-year employment commitment upon completion.
Key Responsibilities
- LPN or Medical Assistant:
- Assist RN, Physician, and other providers.
- Provide direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting.
- Perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
- Care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
- Medical Assistant Apprentice:
- Under the guidance of a Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse preceptor, work at an entry-level.
- Assist RN, Physician, and other providers with direct patient care in the ambulatory setting.
- Perform identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated.
- Care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Licensure/Certification:
- LPN: Current LPN licensure with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
- CMA: Current registration or certification as a medical assistant OR verifiable completion of a medical assistant program. Must become certified within one year of the date of hire and pass certification within two attempts.
- Apprentice: Completion of the 14-week paid training program through Medcerts, with onsite clinicals.
- ALL: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
Qualifications
- Education as required for licensure.
Compensation & Benefits
- LPN or Medical Assistant Wage Range: $21.72 - $32.58 (based on experience).
- Medical Assistant Apprentice Wage: $19.00 Flat Rate. Upon graduation from the apprentice program, wage will increase to $21.72 hourly.
