About TILT
TILT Capital is an impact-first venture fund, investing in early-stage startups that improve the lives of the Next Billion in India. We back founders building commercially viable solutions across agriculture, small enterprise productivity, financial inclusion, employability, and climate resilience. Our approach combines disciplined investing with hands-on support to help startups grow and deliver meaningful impact.
The Role
We are looking for a Principal to lead investments from sourcing through diligence and execution, and work closely with portfolio founders. Working with TILT’s leadership, you will help build the impact-first investing category in India – shaping investment thesis, exercising independent judgment and assessing how commercial growth translates into better livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities
- Source investments: Identify Seed to Series A opportunities through research and relationships with founders, investors and incubators.
- Lead diligence: Assess founders, markets, business models and financials. Build financial models and prepare investment recommendations.
- Evaluate impact: Assess livelihood outcomes, agree on indicators with founders and track progress.
- Support portfolio companies: Work with founders on strategy, governance and fundraising.
- Monitor performance and assess follow-on investments and exit opportunities.
- Conduct research: Develop sector insights and build co-investor relationships.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Fewer than eight years of total experience, including at least five years in startup investing with a SEBI-registered AIF or its investment manager.
- Hands-on experience sourcing, evaluating and executing investments, and supporting portfolio companies.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation and investment judgment.
- Ability to build founder relationships, negotiate terms and work independently within a small team.
- Alignment with TILT’s impact-first approach and willingness to conduct field visits.
Experience in TILT’s focus sectors and familiarity with AIF investment processes, governance and reporting will be an advantage.
The role offers meaningful investment ownership and the opportunity to help build an impact-first fund from an early stage.
