About the Role
Corewell Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for their Van Buren Specialty Pharmacy Fulfillment Center. This is a full-time, day shift position. The department specializes in the accurate dispensing, ordering, filling, verifying, selling, and shipping of specialty medication.
Scope of Work
Under the direction and supervision of a Pharmacist, you will perform a variety of functions related to prescription preparation, storage, distribution, and dispensing. This may include rotation through IV admixture and unit dose service, and potentially OR Pharmacy Services and Outpatient Pharmacy Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform data entry and other record keeping functions essential to department operations.
- Fill medication orders including oral, injectable, topical medications, and intravenous admixtures.
- Enter patient demographics, insurance information, and prescriptions into the pharmacy information system, prioritizing scripts for customers waiting.
- Handle and reprocess rejected claims appropriately.
- Process prescriptions, retrieve correct medication, fill and label prescriptions, and attach necessary notifications.
- File completed scripts in patient pickup bins after pharmacist verification.
Qualifications
- Required:
- A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a general high school diploma program or GED.
- Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program.
- Preferred:
- Previous Specialty Pharmacy and/or Fulfillment experience.
- LIC-Pharmacy Technician - State of Michigan Upon Hire or LIC-Pharmacist Intern - State of Michigan Upon Hire.
