About the Role
Molex is seeking an Engineer, CAE Application to join our Multiphysics Simulation Group in Bengaluru. This role combines structural FEA expertise with surrogate modeling to transform simulation data into predictions supporting product-design decisions. You will lead structural simulation programs, develop and validate surrogate models, and advance Virtual Product Qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural FEA programs involving quasi-static loading, impact and drop testing, pressure-induced deformation, vibration, fatigue, and creep.
- Develop and validate surrogate models that predict stress, strain, displacement, and deformation from FEA training data.
- Apply approaches including regression, response-surface methods, design of experiments, neural networks, and Bayesian correction techniques.
- Establish confidence in simulation and surrogate predictions through convergence studies, sensitivity analysis, error quantification, cross-validation, and correlation with physical test data.
- Define the design-space boundaries and limitations for reliable surrogate model usage.
- Partner with product engineering teams to translate simulation insights into product-design decisions.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen structural simulation methods, review practices, and technical standards.
- Contribute validated structural prediction models to multiphysics and digital-twin architectures.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Demonstrated structural simulation experience with strong knowledge of solid mechanics, finite-element methods, nonlinear analysis, and contact mechanics.
- Hands-on experience with at least one commercial FEA solver such as Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, Nastran, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience building and validating surrogate or reduced-order models from simulation data to predict structural responses.
- Programming experience using Python or MATLAB for model development or automation.
- Experience using regression, response-surface, Gaussian-process, or neural-network modeling approaches.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, Computational Mechanics, or a related engineering discipline.
Bonus Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with commercial surrogate or AI simulation platforms such as Physics AI, DEP MeshWorks, Ansys SimAI, Altair HyperStudy, Siemens HEEDS, Rescale, or Isight.
- Experience with Bayesian methods, uncertainty quantification, Physics-Informed Neural Networks, or physics-constrained machine learning.
- Experience with impact, drop-test, or crash simulation in high-reliability product applications.
- Understanding of digital-twin architectures and integration of surrogate models into multiphysics environments.
- Experience with coupled thermo-structural or electro-thermal-structural simulation.
