About the Role
The California Department of Motor Vehicles is recruiting an IT Associate to join its Information Systems Division. Under the guidance of experienced IT professionals, the IT Associate will contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical DMV applications. This role provides exposure to a wide range of technologies—including Assembler, COBOL, Salesforce, and MuleSoft—supporting the Department’s 24/7 statewide operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in software development activities such as requirements analysis, coding, testing, and documentation
- Support the integration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of enterprise applications
- Participate in SDLC phases including planning, analysis, development, testing, and implementation
- Assist with root cause analysis, defect resolution, and production support tasks
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and installation instructions
- Contribute to project planning, requirements sessions, and status reporting
- Support business technology functions including incident management and system monitoring
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of software development principles and SDLC best practices
- Interest in learning enterprise technologies and system integration methods
- Ability to analyze technical needs and translate them into functional designs
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to follow established standards, procedures, and security practices
- Capacity to work collaboratively within cross-functional technical teams
