Support Care Assistant NMPRC

About the Role

The Support Care Assistant position is with the Department of Mental Health at the Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (NMPRC) in St. Joseph, MO. NMPRC is a 108-bed forensic inpatient psychiatric hospital focused on providing evidence-based treatment in a safe and healing environment.

Job Duties

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, toileting, and ambulation.
• Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with patients, subordinates, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
• Perform environmental rounds as assigned, punctually and comprehensively, documenting precisely.
• Administer first aid and perform emergency treatment as required.
• Provide care and interact with patients considering their mental illness, forensic issues, and developmental stages (young adult to elderly adults and the developmentally disabled).
• Maintain a safe, clean, and agreeable work environment.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License or State-issued ID
• Availability to work a minimum of 2 weekends a month.
• Full-time shift availability: 2nd Shift (2:45pm – 11:15pm with rotating weekends) or 3rd Shift (10:45pm – 7:15am with rotating weekends).
• Full-Time staff receive an additional $2/hr shift differential for 2nd & 3rd shifts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of the general care and treatment of patients, including basic nursing, first aid, and emergency treatments.
• Ability to work with patients experiencing physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric population.
• Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to accept and adapt to changes in assignments, methods, and policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• 0-1 year of related experience.

Compensation & Benefits

• Monthly Base Salary: $2,980.82
