AI Generalist

About the Role

The AI Generalist will work on-site at Paperboat Design Studios in Mumbai in a full-time capacity. This role involves collaborating closely with animation, VFX, and production teams to integrate AI tools into creative and production workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to use AI for asset generation, automation, pipeline optimization, and content enhancement.
• Prototype and evaluate AI tools and models.
• Support artists and producers in using AI solutions effectively.
• Perform data preparation and prompt engineering.
• Create documentation and best practices for AI use across projects.
• Assist in maintaining ethical and responsible use of AI.
• Ensure AI outputs align with client requirements, brand guidelines, and studio standards.
• Contribute ideas for innovation in storytelling and visual design.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Skills in applied AI and machine learning, including working with off-the-shelf models, prompt engineering, and basic model tuning for creative and production use.
• Skills in creative tooling, including familiarity with generative image, video, and text tools.
• Ability to integrate AI outputs into animation, VFX, or design pipelines.
• Skills in data handling and workflow optimization, including data preparation, version control, and building efficient, repeatable processes for AI-assisted production.
• Skills in problem-solving and analytical thinking to evaluate AI tools, measure impact on quality and timelines, and propose improvements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain AI concepts to non-technical team members and document guidelines and workflows clearly.
• Familiarity with tools like Python, APIs, or scripting within DCC applications (e.g., Blender, Maya, After Effects) is an advantage.
• An interest in ethical AI.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, animation technology, data science, or a related field are beneficial.
• Experience in animation, VFX, game development, or creative technology environments is an advantage.
