Business Analyst
PowerPlan, Inc.
About the Role
A PowerPlan Professional Services Analyst works with a team of 2-8 people to configure and customize PowerPlan’s software to meet the specific accounting needs and business processes of utility customers. Analysts must fully understand the design documents for each component of the software they are responsible for configuring. Analysts help build the solution by writing SQL scripts, assisting in the configuration of interfaces, converting and translating data, and testing the solution to ensure it meets client outcomes. The primary objective of a 1st year Analyst is to learn PowerPlan’s functionality quickly, as well as the basic tools and processes used to configure it. Project timelines range from 3 months to 2 years. Analysts may work one project at a time until demonstrating proficiency to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Analysts may be expected to travel to client sites up to 50% of the time. This is a hybrid role involving onsite and remote work.

- Learn the basics of public utility accounting as it relates to one’s practice area.

- Support client users by identifying root causes of issues, resolving them, and pushing updates for validation.
- Approximately 75% of an Analyst’s time is spent helping configure the build.
- Troubleshoot problems on assigned tasks and conduct unit testing in areas of configuration.
- Track progress and provide regular, timely reports to the project manager, including status updates, timeline estimates, and potential obstacles.
- Observe design meetings with key stakeholders to understand project objectives, client processes, and data requirements.
- Learn to self-source answers to questions using internal tools and resources.
