Lab Technician, Sealants

About the Role

PPG Aerospace is seeking an Entry Level Sealants Lab Technician at our Mojave facility. This role ensures manufactured products meet all customer requirements through product testing. The position is onsite at our Mojave, CA facility and reports to the Sealants Lab Supervisor. The role will initially be on day shift but may move to 2nd or 3rd shift, requiring comfort working any shift. Overtime may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Under minimal supervision, conduct Analytical testing on Raw Materials, Coatings, and Sealants products.
• Ensure all testing is performed as defined and all Lab equipment is accurately working and calibrated.
• Contribute to achieving team goals by communicating ideas, suggestions, and assistance, including identifying and communicating ways to save time, effort, and resources.
• Become familiar with SOPs and ASTMs pertaining to everyday chemicals and testing procedures.
• Participate in all safety protocols and 5S initiatives and help to maintain laboratory equipment and inventories.
• Inspect, test, and perform evaluations on products.
• Clearly identify and communicate issues that need to be addressed and take necessary steps to avoid future errors.
• Demonstrate digital literacy in ERP System (QAD preferred) and Microsoft Office.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field preferred.
• Related technical certifications with coatings and sealants preferred.
• 1+ years of previous experience working in a laboratory environment strongly preferred.
• Digital literacy in ERP System (QAD preferred) and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with SOPs and ASTMs.
