About the Role
A global food distribution company is seeking an Entry Level Bilingual Japanese / English Purchasing Specialist to support their office in the Secaucus, NJ area. This is a full-time, direct hire onsite position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform recordkeeping for the purchasing department.
- Maintain communication with custom brokers to obtain updated cargo receiving schedules.
- Conduct data analysis related to purchasing activities to support decision-making.
- Perform market research to identify potential vendors and market trends.
- Generate reports, purchase orders, import permits, and shipping documents.
- Regularly update the company's database with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts).
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for purchasing orders, invoices, and contracts.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Fluency in English.
- Proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or higher) is mandatory.
- Willingness to learn procedures and policies related to purchasing.
- Ability to travel locally.
- Strong leadership skills in a team environment.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent communication skills (Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening) and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently.
- Team-worker, Detail-oriented, Responsible, Punctual, Self-motivated.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Associate's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience in the purchasing field is preferred; entry-level candidates are welcomed.
Note: The physical requirements of the job may include sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds (or more with assistance), climbing stairs, using hands and arms for reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending at the waist, talking, and hearing. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
