Forward Deployed Engineering Intern
WrightLabs SI
About the Role
- Work on real operational problems, often in and around manufacturing environments.
- Go deep on the ground: visit sites, talk to users, shadow supervisors, and understand where workflows break.
- Use software and AI as tools to move quickly from problem discovery to practical solutions.
- Chase the best possible outcome, not just the most conventional one.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate messy real-world problems by spending time where the work actually happens.
- Turn observations from operators, supervisors, and frontline users into clear problem statements.
- Prototype and ship fast, using AI where it meaningfully speeds up execution.
- Iterate quickly based on what you learn in the field.
- Balance engineering judgment with urgency — the goal is progress, not over-design.
Qualifications
- High agency and strong problem-solving speed.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and figuring things out without waiting for perfect instructions.
- A strong belief that better systems are possible, and the drive to work backwards from an ideal state.
- Willingness to visit manufacturing units, sit onsite for long stretches, and learn directly from users.
- Curiosity about operational detail, not just technical abstraction.
Fit
- People based in Tier 2 cities in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, or Jharkhand or others.
- People who have manufacturing plants, industrial environments, or operational systems close to where they live.
- People who don't mind getting their hands dirty and learning by being physically present with users.
- Not a fit for people who romanticise over-engineering or over-designing at the cost of pace, or who prefer staying far from the problem instead of learning onsite.
Contract Setup
- This role is being hired contractually for now.
