About the Role

This Summer Intern position in the Marketing Department is designed for students to gain hands-on experience in marketing within the freight transportation sector. The internship involves working on strategic projects, engaging in market analysis, and contributing to promotional campaigns. Interns will develop critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills under the guidance of marketing professionals. Successful interns may be considered for full-time Management Trainee positions upon graduation. This is a full-time position with potential for one remote day per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Gain knowledge of the Marketing department, the BNSF network, and its internal systems & applications in the Customer Support Department.
• Lead projects within a Marketing business unit (Industrial Products, Agricultural Products, or Consumer Products) aimed at enhancing customer experience, identifying market trends, improving business strategies, or creating process efficiencies.
• Develop an understanding of BNSF's current business strategies, relevant markets, and identified opportunities.
• Conduct research using internal and external sources and analyze data to identify trends.
• Learn Marketing systems and current process flows.
• Interact and communicate with a team, leaders, and customers.
• Create recommendations based on analysis and communicate them to various levels within the department.
• Identify and implement new process flows or automations for current processes.
• Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Legally authorized to work in the United States and at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire.
• Does not require BNSF’s assistance for employment authorization.
• Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management, or a similar degree program from an accredited university.
• Maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
• Have LESS THAN three (3) years of professional work experience, excluding internships or part-time jobs during degree pursuit.
• Minimal travel required; must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Relocation is required if located more than 50 miles from the work location.
• Training includes a two-day orientation in Fort Worth, TX, followed by support on ongoing projects and practical departmental training.
• Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior intern experience or less than 3 years of work experience in Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a Supply Chain related field.
• Have or have held a leadership position in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
• Pursuing a degree in Marketing (B2B) or Industrial Engineering.
