About the Role
Coffman Excavation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join their growing team in Boise, Idaho. This role offers hands-on experience in project management, estimating, and field operations, supporting construction projects from preconstruction through completion. The position provides a career path toward a Project Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with project planning, coordination, and execution
- Performing quantity takeoffs and estimating support
- Soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Assisting in the preparation of project estimates and proposals
- Conducting site visits and supporting project oversight
- Managing and tracking RFIs, submittals, and plan revisions
- Coordinating material procurement and delivery schedules
- Monitoring project costs and assisting with budget tracking
- Supporting safety initiatives and jobsite compliance
- Assisting with change order management and project documentation
Requirements & Tech Stack
- 0–5 years of construction, engineering, or project coordination experience
- Experience reviewing construction drawings, plans, and specifications
- Understanding of RFIs, submittals, and document control processes
- Knowledge of estimating principles and quantity takeoffs
- Familiarity with change order management processes
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with field and office teams
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
