About ZOVU

ZOVU is building the Operating System for the modern restaurant, aiming for one connected experience for Point of Sale, loyalty, reservations, staff tools, and a customer app. It's an early-stage, fully remote startup with ambitious goals.

The Role

Seeking an ambitious UI/UX Design Intern with a strong eye for UI to help design polished screens and connected user flows in Figma. This role involves working closely with founders and developers to translate product requirements into user-friendly experiences. The style emphasizes calm, minimal, and considered design: clear typography, generous whitespace, precise alignment, and restrained color.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design polished screens and connected user flows in Figma.
  • Turn agreed product requirements into complete flows, including relevant empty, loading, error, and confirmation states.
  • Use reusable components.
  • Refine designs after feedback.
  • Prepare organized files for developer handoff.

What Excites Us

  • Experience That Shows: Demonstrated experience designing complete user flows through an internship, freelance work, a product team, or substantial university or personal projects. Ability to discuss design decisions and project development.
  • A Strong Eye for UI: Work demonstrating care for typography, spacing, hierarchy, and consistency. Ability to adapt to and extend ZOVU's visual direction.
  • Confidence in Figma: Experience using Auto Layout, reusable components, and variants across multiple connected screens. Organized files that are easy to understand.
  • From Feedback to Handoff: Experience refining designs based on input from users, teammates, or clients. Experience preparing developer handoffs or working directly with developers is a strong plus.
  • A Portfolio We Can Explore: Showcase at least two projects with finished product screens, explaining your contribution and the nature of the work (concept or released product).
  • Momentum with Care: Efficiency in building connected screens, reusing components, and maintaining consistent quality.
  • Curiosity and Communication: Ability to ask useful questions, welcome feedback, keep the team informed, explain decisions, and collaborate in English.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with SaaS, dashboards, mobile apps, or restaurant technology.
  • Relevant design work within a startup or an established product team.

Internship Details & Growth

This is a hands-on internship focused on developing product design skills through practical work, feedback, and collaboration.

  • Duration: Three months.
  • Location: 100% Remote.
  • Time Zones: No time-zone overlap is required.
  • Availability: Ideally 32 hours per week. Consideration may be given for 20 hours for an exceptionally strong candidate.
