Key Responsibilities

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to one of several departments, including Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial. Responsibilities include:

• Promoting sales within the assigned department.
• Answering customer questions and responding to product requests.
• Accurately placing special orders.
• Practicing safe food handling procedures.
• Maintaining a clean, orderly, and hazard-free work area.
• Receiving, inspecting, and logging products for accuracy and quality.
• Stocking, rotating, and merchandising products to maintain freshness and department appeal.

Specific Department Responsibilities

• Center Store/Front End:
• Operating the check-stand according to company policy and procedures.
• Memorizing PLU codes and staying updated on new products.
• Ordering, receiving, unloading, stocking, and rotating product.
• Merchandising product.
• Performing Point-Of-Sale (POS) and inventory activities.
• Produce:
• Trimming, washing, and wrapping produce according to company policy.
• Maintaining the floral area.
• Meat/Seafood:
• Weighing, wrapping/packaging, and labeling products for display.
• Providing customer service at the seafood counter.
• Taking special orders for meat or holiday items.
• Operating equipment such as slicers and wrappers.
• Bakery/Deli:
• Preparing, weighing, packaging, and labeling products for display.
• Taking special orders for cakes and party trays.
• Operating equipment such as ovens, proofers, slicers, and mixers.
• Janitorial:
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the store.
• Sweeping and mopping sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas.
• Cleaning restrooms, break room, office areas, shelving, cases, front end equipment, shopping carts, and vending machines.
• Cleaning the front of the store and parking lot, and emptying trash.
• Operating janitorial equipment such as scrubbers and buffers.

Duties Included In All Departments

• Sweeping and mopping sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas.
• May operate a forklift if authorized and certified.
• May operate a baler if authorized.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency and self-motivation.
• Capability to be proactive, initiative, enthusiastic, and flexible on the job.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) or additional job experience.
• Experience: Six months of related experience.
• Other:
• Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours.
• Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis.
• Requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
