About the Role
This is a communication-heavy technical role, not a lab or software role. You will take complex technology and turn it into white papers, grant applications, briefings, and decks that win funding. This high exposure role will provide independent technology research and analyses, including qualitative and quantitative analysis of fundamental scientific principles and their impact on devices and systems related to client projects. This will involve learning and explaining technologies in fields that are both familiar and unfamiliar to you, so you must be a quick learner.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep up to date with program developments within the government such as DOE, DOD, Department of Commerce, NSF, and relevant state programs.
- Provide background support and preparation for the creation of technical presentations, collateral, concept papers, white papers, grant applications, and RFP responses for clients and government customers, including background research and the preparation of initial draft deliverables.
- Assist in client deliverables (both preparation and follow-up activities) and participate in client meetings and subsequent client strategy discussions.
- Assist in planning and executing firm initiatives (e.g. conferences, events, team deliverables) and manage meeting schedules and client deliverable schedules, to ensure timely execution.
- Assist with the creation of quantitative technical and performance value-propositions for various client technologies in application areas being targeted within the government.
- Prepare internal technical memos and presentations and weekly internal and external client summary reports.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a hard science or engineering (e.g. materials science, physics, physical chemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, or similar).
- 0-2 years of professional experience.
- Excellent writing, oral communication, critical thinking, and quantitative analytical skills.
- Ability to think creatively and independently about how to solve new problems or apply technologies to new applications.
- A self-starter, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to quickly adapt to change and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Bonus Points
- Experience in the semiconductor / critical minerals / nuclear / advanced manufacturing / materials science space.
- Experience working in or alongside a government agency, policy team, or grant-writing organization.
